Also of note in this photo is the line of concrete structures going out to sea. They mark where there used to be sewage outflow pipes. I am so glad that is one feature of the local coast that has long since disappeared!
From April 8th 2007 I will be posting a daily photograph to this blog on the theme of waste and waste management. Despite huge advances in recycling the figures show that most of what we throw away still ends up in landfill sites. It's not just garbage; we also make a good job of wasting power, fresh water and fossil fuels. I am going to take this opportunity to illustrate the issues as I see them.

Sorry I haven't had time to comment this week, Clive! I've been stalking your blog daily, though, and you're doing so great... and still managing to add more gold to your mantle in the middle of all this. Geez I hate you!!!!! :P
I wanted to comment on your dripping faucet pic cuz I really loved that one, and I am really liking this one today, too. The colors really pop.
Keep it up! We're half-way there!!
I like the brightness of the red bin in all that grey dullness. The doggie bins are definitely a great idea.
Very nice!
