Day 3 - "Kerbside Bin 55"

Oh be quiet! No the contents of this glass recycling bin do not represent the average weekly beer and wine consumption of the SigloV household. It has actually taken over a month to get it this full - and once again I forgot to put it out for collection this morning.

On matters photographic, it was a real challenge to take this shot without getting my feet in the frame :-)

In shots like these I like symmetry and this has none that I can see and yet I really like this shot!

I really like this. To me what really makes it is that little popsicle stick just at the lower left corner. I also like how the sidewalk/flooring is more beat up on the left than the right. This really reminds me of the weekly critique series that you just did.

Nick, you can read me like a book! I shamelessly admit that the influence for this one comes straight from Richard Wentworth's "Making do and getting by" series.

Thanks for the comment :-)

ziaphra,

Yes - this is deliberately done asymetrically - hopefully it adds to the "grunge" factor - you know, makes it a little less antiseptic that my usual staged Worth stuff!

Thanks for the comment :-)

I love how it's not perfectly square in the frame. That adds interest to this image that has a snapshot feel but obviously not a snapshot.

So which wine was your favorite? :)

I see Nick already said it, but as soon as I saw this shot, I thought of the weekly critique series you posted recently. The popsicle stick reminded me of the bent straw in one of those photos. Really neat. I'm impressed how you are making "waste" look good.

Intersting top-down view and quirky composition.
